Summer Reading for All

Every LISD student is required to read at least one book of choice over the summer; there is no approved list of novels. The goal is for you to read as much as possible this summer (for the love of reading, to prevent the summer slide, and to be prepared for the amount of reading and the level of analysis this year). I always encourage my students to have a balanced reading diet of challenge, just right, and vacation books. I would say if a student wants to annotate, to go for it, but it's not necessary. At the beginning of the year, we will talk about summer reading in quick writes and class discussions, but there will be no formal assignments assessing summer reading.
