COURSE CONTENT

The goal of this class is to enhance skills that will allow students to be successful in both their academic and personal life. We will cover skills such as: setting goals, self-advocacy, organization, time management, note-taking and test-taking. This class will also provide time for students to engage in additional resources such as small group tutorials, peer review, reteach and extra time to complete other class assignments,projects and assessments.


GRADING SYSTEM

Daily Assignments/Participation - 50%


Developing Skills- Performance / Effort/ Use of Class time (tutorials, retakes) -50%


CLASS POLICIES

In addition to abiding by school and district rules and expectations, students are expected to:

  • Come to class with materials needed to work on assignments

  • Fully participate in extensions assignments and study skills mini-lessons

  • Use class time effectively by asking questions as needed in order to complete classroom assignments and study for upcoming tests or quizzes.


TUTORING

Students are encouraged to set up time with their content-specific classroom teacher to attend tutorials. Additional time can be arranged with the extensions teacher if all other resources have been attempted.
