~My Family~

Welcome to my webpage! I hope that you find this site user friendly and a great resource for class. Let me tell you a little about me. This will be my 10th year teaching Health Science at LHS, but my 12th year teaching. I taught at Randall High School in Amarillo up in the Texas Panhandle for two years before relocating down here. Before teaching, I was a registered nurse for 10 years. I started out in a level 3 trauma emergency room when I was a baby nurse. So, I guess you could say that I am an ER nurse at heart. I love trauma and all that comes with it (blood, guts, broken bones, adrenaline pumping). I love that feeling when you are able to save someone's life! I have seen some crazy things in my day(don't worry, you will hear all about it). Saving lives is great, but the ER has some downsides...death... which leads to major, major stress. When I became a mom, I didn't want to come home stressed out anymore so I decided to try some other areas of nursing out(btw this is what makes nursing great...if you get bored doing one thing just switch). I have experience in pre-op, recovery, labor & delivery, postpartum, NICU, and quality improvement. I have a ton of knowledge from my experience, but I don't know everything! I know a little about a lot of things. You will find that google is our best friend in my classroom!  As for outside the classroom, I love to run, lift weights, be outdoors, read, and spend time with my family!

Now a little about my family:

I have been married to my amazing husband, Bryan for 20 years. He is the manager of the respiratory therapy department at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. He is extremely good at what he does, so if you are interested in respiratory, lmk and I will hook you up! My oldest daughter, Madalyn aka Mady, is 18 years old and just graduated from LHS in May. She will be attending ACC in the fall to study forensics. Her plan is to transfer to St. Edwards in Austin. She is extremely quiet, laid back, and absolutely beautiful! Laynee, my middle daughter, is 16  and a junior at LHS this year. She was accepted into the cosmetology program here at LHS. She can't wait to own her own salon. She is an independent woman and doesn't take anything from anyone! She is what I call passionate. My youngest, Brayden, is 13, and he will be in 8th grade this year. He is all boy, but has a sensitive side(he has sisters after all). He spends all of his time gaming on his PC, but does love him some soccer. He is also a trombone player. My one band kid! I was a huge fan of band in school! We have three dogs, Harper, who is a chimorkie, Izzy who is a rescue...mutt...I have no idea what she is...but she is cute, and Nova who is a pomeranian! We also have a gerbil . Her name is Pearl.

Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope that you will find that I am very approachable and easy to talk to. If you ever have any issues in my classroom, please just come talk to me. I look forward to getting to know you and teaching you what I love about the medical field. It's going to be a great year!!
