UIL Math consists of 3 separate competitions, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, & Mathematics - students may compete in any or all of them! Scroll down for descriptions and resources.

Rouse HS Team Past Accomplishments:

Congratulations to Rouse 2022-23 team for recruiting and growing to the biggest group of participants ever at Rouse HS - other schools were in awe of how many we brought to Invitationals throughout the year!  Specific congratulations to Naren Mayilsamy and Ben Griffith for getting 4th & 5th place respectively at district Number Sense, Shashank Shah, Sathvik Katta, and Sam Durgaraman for getting 7th, 8th , & 9th at Calculator Applications, and Rachit Patel & Naren Mayilsamy for getting 8th & 9th in Mathematics!

Congratulations to Rouse 2021-22 Team members Ammar Imran & Ryan Stein for getting 3rd & 5th place respectively at district in Number Sense, Ammar Imran for getting 6th place at district in Calculator Applications and Lohit Allampalli & Shashank Shah for tying for 7th place at district in Math!

Congratulations to Rouse 2020-21 Team members for getting 2nd place Team in Number Sense & Math at District and to Dinesh Saripalli for a 1st place finish at district in Number Sense to advance to Regionals!

Congratulations to Rouse 2019-20 Team members for being the only ones in our district to choose to participate in the UIL District At Home Experience!  I am quite sure we would have advanced to regionals as a team had the season been allowed to continue!

Congratulations to Rouse 2018-19 Team members for getting 2nd place in all 3 math events at District!  Congratulations to Dinesh Saripalli and Timothy Bartholomew for advancing to Regionals in Number Sense and Math, with 3rd place finishes at district in both!

Congratulations to Rouse 2017-18 Team members for getting 2nd place team in Math at District!  Congrats to David Simpson for getting 2nd place in Number Sense & 2nd place in Math to advance to Regionals!

Congratulations to Rouse 2016-17 Team : 3rd place team in Number Sense,   3rd place team in Calculator, and 2nd place team in Math at District!  Congrats to Aneesh Saripalli for getting 2nd place in Number Sense and 2nd place in Math to advance to Regionals!

Competition Info!

Number Sense

 The number sense competition is a 10 minute test in which no scratch work and no calculator is allowed. Students who are great at doing fast math in their head are excellent at this event. Students will learn number tricks and strategies for being human calculators!

Calculator Applications

The calculator competition is a 30 minute test in which students use a calculator to compute "number crunchers" and word and geometry problems. Students who are great at punching numbers in the calculator quickly are excellent at this event.

Mathematics

 The mathematics competition is a 40 minute multiple choice test in which students solve a variety of math problems from all levels of math. Students who are great at logical thinking and in their mathematical ability are excellent at this event.
