About Ms. McCormick

My name is Melody B. McCormick. I have been teaching Latin at CPHS since the school opened in 1998. I hold certifications in Latin and English. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts and a double major in Latin and English. I fell in love with Latin while I was at UT finishing my degree in English. As a transfer student, I needed to fulfill the foreign language requirement. I felt that Latin would address my fondness for old literature. I soon discovered how much fun Latin could be; how Latin could do things with language and word order which English could not. I discovered an ancient world full of wonders.

Now I get to teach and share that wonderful world.I have the privilege of sharing the origins of much of our society and the roots of language. I get to go to work and do what I would otherwise do as a hobby. I get to have fun everyday!
