Hello there! I'm Lisa Feazell, 3rd grade teacher at Deer Creek Elementary. The 2025-2026 school year will be my twenty-first year at DCE. In my time here at Deer Creek, I've taught Music, 2nd grade, 5th grade, and ESL. In olden days, I've been everything from a shoe salesperson to a Disneyland entertainer to a college professor. Nothing has been as satisfying, rewarding, or joyful as teaching elementary school has been.
My educational background is a bit varied. I'm curious about nearly everything I find, and I'm constantly learning new things. I received a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (fancy for 'elementary education') with an emphasis in English/Technical Writing, Summa Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University. I also have a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech. I'm a life long classical musician, and my primary instrument is my voice. I also play flute, piano, violin, and percussion with varying levels of skill. I hold teaching certifications in English grades 1-8, Self-Contained Classroom grades 1-8, Music EL-12, and ESL EL-12.
Personally, I've been married for thirty years, have no children, but we have one cat named OdinCat and a dog named Stetson. The gentleman to the left is Mr. Feazell, who also answers to Mr. Fuzzy. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, computer games, and learning new things. I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett's books, good yarn, and long naps.
I am severely allergic to peanuts. I cannot eat them or be around them. I do carry an Epi-Pen, and my team is aware of this. I will tell the students this and how to get another teacher in case of emergency, but I will also treat it as something not to fear. It's just part of life, and we all make adjustments for what we need! I'm fairly well practiced at this point in avoiding contact. If your child brings a peanut-based snack, I will encourage them to join a neighboring classroom just for a few minutes for snack time. Lunch isn't a problem at all, since I won't ever be in the cafeteria for more than a few minutes at a time. If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else, please feel free to email me.
Chorus Austin
I also sing with the symphonic chorus of Chorus Austin, a major semi-professional choral group! We're a 160 member chorus focusing primarily on large, major choral works by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, and countless others. We regularly perform in many venues, including concerts with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. If you or your children are interested in classical music, I would love to recommend our concerts, although obviously I'm a bit biased. Check the website for times and links!
