IB Shadow Program

The IB Shadow Program offers interested 8th grade students a chance to shadow a current IB DP student on a designated date in late January/early February.  This helps students learn about what the IB DP at LHS has to offer and decide for themselves if this program is right for them.  It is particularly useful for students considering a transfer to LHS.

The 2019 IB Shadow Program will take place between January 28-February 8, 2019.

The IB Coordinator and IB Counselor will be visiting all middle schools that can attend LHS for IB on January 22-23 to give a presentation on IB.  Then, on January 23 at 4:30 PM, a link to the Shadow Application will go live on this page.  There are a limited number of spots available, so apply promptly.  Demand for Shadow Program spots is very high; last year the spots filled within a few hours.

If accepted, Shadow students and parents will receive an email with their Shadow date, their class schedule, and the name of their DP Buddy (an 11th or 12th grade IB DP student).

8th grade Shadow students need to arrive and check in at the front office at LHS on their designated date by 8:15 AM (must provide own transportation), have a brief orientation with the IB DP Coordinator, and then meet their Buddy.  They will attend the first three classes with their Buddy, then spend the last period with the IB DP Coordinator, debriefing and getting a tour of the campus.  Students must be picked up at 3:15 PM (again, must provide own transportation).  They will receive a letter certifying their participation that should be returned to their attendance office to excuse their absence.

Thank you, and please contact the IB Coordinator (Kate Hauenstein, kate.hauenstein@leanderisd.org) with any questions.
