IB Shadow Program

The IB Shadow Program offers interested 8th grade students a chance to shadow a current IB DP student on a designated date in early March.  This helps students learn about what the IB DP at LHS has to offer and decide for themselves if this program is right for them.  It is particularly useful for students considering a transfer to LHS.

Thank you for your interest in the IB Programme at Leander HS.  Due to high interest, spots to shadow an IB DP student will fill up fast. Everyone is welcome at IB 8th Grade Info Night, on Thursday, February 10th at 6:00 PM in the LHS Performing Arts Center.  If you have questions, please contact the IB Coordinator, shawn.doctor@leanderisd.org. 

If accepted, Shadow students and parents will receive an email with their Shadow date, their class schedule, and the name of their DP Buddy (an 11th or 12th grade IB DP student).  

8th grade Shadow students need to arrive and check in at the front office at LHS on their designated date by 8:10 AM (must provide own transportation), have a brief orientation with the IB DP Coordinator, and then meet their Buddy.  They will attend the first three classes with their Buddy, then spend the last period with the IB DP Coordinator, for a debriefing and to answer any questions.  Students must be picked up by 2:15 PM (again, must provide own transportation).  They will receive a letter certifying their participation that should be returned to their attendance office to excuse their absence.
