GRADING POLICY

*** Semester & Final Exams - These cumulative exams will count according to the district grading policy.

We will be using a point value system for grades. This will consist of the following categories:

Classwork

Lab Work

Quizzes

Projects

Tests

Redos: In place of redos, which focus on the grade, a points back process that focuses on learning is in place.

How to earn points back on an Assessment (Projects, Quizzes, and Tests) for

The assessment given at the end of a unit, is not eligible for points back. For all other assessments:

The student must make an 80% or less on the assessment. Each student will be given an assignment based on what they missed and a deadline of FIVE days to complete the assignment. If, by the deadline the student

1. Completes the assignment

2. Does corrections

3. Has no missing assignments (prior to the assessment)

4. Successfully completes an individual conference with me (outside of class time)

The student will receive half of their missed points back.

Improvement points

Because regardless of original grade, we can still learn, all assessments are cumulative.

If a student shows improvement from Assessment 1 to assessment 2 on the same material, they will earn an “improvement point” in the grade book on the former assessment. (Basically an extra credit point) Students can earn 3-4 improvement points each cycle.

Make-up Work: All make-up work due to absences needs to be done in the time allotted by campus policy, and it is your (student’s) responsibility. Check Google Classroom and the Calendar before you ask the teacher.

LATE WORK: Any assignments handed in later than the assigned time will be counted as late, and you will receive a maximum score of 90% for the first week following the due date. If your assignment is two weeks late you will receive a maximum score 80%. If your assignment is three weeks late you will receive a maximum score of 70%. Anything later than three weeks will be counted as a zero. NOTE: If you have missing homework(s), you WILL NOT be eligible to get points back on assessments (see above).
