Ethical Principles

Leander Ethical Principles

The following ten major ethical values form a philosophical basis for ethical judgment and define the moral duties and virtues implicit in ethical behavior. Leander ISD is committed to these principles. (Definitions supplied by students.)

Honesty: Don't lie. Tell the truth.

Integrity: Know what is right and do it.

Promise-Keeping: Keep every promise you make. Do not break promises.

Loyalty: Be good. Be nice. Help others when they're stuck. Keep friends. Be honest. Be fair to others.

Fairness: Be fair. Do not cheat. Do not lie. Do not break a promise. Be a good sport.

Caring/Concern For Others: Put someone else's needs before yours. Help others with their problems.

Respect for Others: Do not lie or tease others. Be nice and friendly. Do not call others names. Listen when others are talking.

Law Abidingness/Civic Duty: Be responsible for your community (example--pick up trash along the side of the road).

Pursuit of Excellence: Do not let a failure stop you from trying again. Do your best on everything--quality.

Accountability: Be dependable and be responsible.
