The Tech Club at LCHS was founded in 2013 by the student Cole, who served as its first president. Twelve other students joined the first year, many regularly hanging out after school to play Minecraft together.

By the second year, membership had almost doubled, with twenty-three members. Minecraft reminded the most popular game for friends to play together after school.

Many of the founding members had graduated and the numbers dropped to fifteen. A core group still regularly meet after school to play Minecraft and various other games together.

More members graduated, but few new ones joined, dropping numbers to five active members. Only three regularly meet after school to play Minecraft. But two founding members Cole and Marquez, both now in college, made occasional visits after school to join the fun.

The official meeting date was finally moved for the first time to before school, with roll being taking every Monday morning. The eight members enjoyed hanging out everyday. Several members continued to build amazing structures in Minecraft. IO games such as Slither, Agar, Holes and Mope were very popular.

Popularity Explosion
'19-'20
A huge, new wave of students joined, with membership steadily climbing over the year to reach a recorded high of twenty-seven members.
The Gaming League was founded in January 2020. Twelve students formed two teams who competed against other high schools in the League of Legends tournament sponsored by PlayVS. Sadly, the Spring season only lasted a month before COVID-19 hit, and the season ended abruptly.

Esports Rises
'20-'21
While COVID-19 bought many new challenges, it did not taper students' passion for technology. Membership rose to over thirty members, with five members being virtual.
Minecraft and its many modded versions continued to be a popular game among members. The popularity of the social deduction game Among Us lead to large groups of students sitting silently in the same room while each player tried to take down their opponents or attempt to avoid the imposters.
Esports sparkled much interest. Ten students competed in the Fall and Spring seasons for League of Legend by rotating who played on game day. Practice games of Fortnite and Rocket League were also played, but no official teams were formed.
A contest for Tech Club logo was given with a $25 prize for the winner. The winner logo was voted on by members.

With 13 seniors graduating the pervious year, numbers were down for the beginning of the school year, but membership steadily climbed back up to the thirties.
While Minecraft still remained popular, Fortnite became the number one game played before and after school, thanks to having new, powerful computers in the lab.
During March, twelve members went on a field trip to Infinity Science Center located near the Gulf Coast. NASA operates the museum.
