Words that describe the job of a school conselor

Meet the School Counselors

My name is Angie McGee, and I am originally from Glen Dale, WV. I moved to Lancaster in July, 2001, after marrying Brad McGee, who is a 5th grade teacher at North. We have a son, Parker, who is a Sophmore at Lancaster High School.  He keeps us busy on the  baseball field, playing on the varsity team for LHS and travel baseball for T24.

My first collegiate experience was at Marshall University (in Huntington, WV), where I earned Bachelor of Art and Master of Art degrees in Communication Disorders (1998 and 2000). I worked as a speech-language pathologist in elementary schools for 8 years. I then opted to change careers and attended Winthrop University, where I earned a Master of Education degree in School Counseling (2007). This is my 16th year at North Elementary as a school counselor, and I enjoy working closely with the students in 3rd - 5th grades. I am also the chairperson for our Student Assistance Team, where we devise small group and individualized interventions for students experiencing academic or behavioral difficulties.

Spending quality time with my family is my favorite thing to do when I am not at one of Parker's athletic events. We love cheering on our favorite sports teams: Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Marshall University's Thundering Herd!

Please let me know how I can assist you or your child at any time during the school year.

Hello North Elementary Family! I’m looking forward to our 2023-2024 year at North Elementary.  My name is Rita Isom. I am honored to be a school counselor at North Elementary School.  This is my 10th year working as a school counselor. Previously, I spent 12 years as one  of North's classroom teachers. I mainly work with students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, and the students in the self-contained classrooms. I also get the pleasure of working with 5th grade Beta Club students.

I am a graduate of Clemson University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I earned a master's degree in school counseling in 2011. In addition to being a school counselor, I’m also a school test coordinator. I create schedules, organize materials, and prepare our faculty for various assessments, including MAP Growth (Measures of Academic Progress), COGAT/IA, and SCREADY/SCPASS.

In my free time, I enjoy bargain shopping, reading, and taking Zumba classes at my local YMCA. Most importantly, I get to spend time with my family.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year.
