Chemical Crystallography at the ALS

Welcome to beamline 11.3.1. This site is designed to both provide the community with a general overview of what is done on the beamline as well as provide useful resources to users of the beamline.

Beamline 12.2.1 is a small molecule X-ray diffraction facility at the Advanced Light Source, LBNL, dedicated to the structural characterization of crystalline compounds produced by inorganic, organic, organometallic, and materials researchers. Beamline 12.2.1 is mounted on a superconducting bending magnet that provides an intense beam of monochromatic X-rays in the range of 6 - 28 keV. (0.45 - 2.0 Ă…)

Please browse the sites on the left for a more in depth profile of the capabilities of 12.2.1, specifically the Applications page will tell you about the experimental capabilities, the Publications page will give you some insight into recent work that has been completed at 12.2.1, and the Description page will give you some background information about the specifics of the beamline.

New and returning users, please see the User Resources page for information on how to conduct research at or with 12.2.1 as well as updated information for sample submission.
