Classroom Rules

CLASS RULES AND SOCIAL SKILLS

Without any guidelines in school, not much learning can take place! That’s why we have a few basic rules. The main rule is “don’t make a problem for yourself or someone else”. We also have rules about being safe. An important goal in kindergarten is the development of social skills – how to get along with one another. We encourage children having a problem to first talk with the other child. If this doesn’t work, then they are to ask for help from the teacher in charge. Of course, we are always on the look-out for problems such as one child deliberately hurting or cruelly teasing another child, and then we intervene immediately. Most problems, however, deal with taking turns, sharing, accidentally bumping into someone, etc. – and can usually be solved between the children involved.
