Mr. Foster's Bio

This is my 11th year teaching and my 2nd year teaching robotics classes. Before getting my secondary education degree at Park University, I worked at O'Reilly Auto parts for 17 years. After getting my degree in 2012, I was lucky enough to be hired at Lawson High School, the school I graduated from in 1986, to be the Sophomore English teacher. Three years into my teaching career I was asked to coach the High School Robotics. I was immediately drawn in to this program and it has become my passion. This has led to the growth of the program which includes a Middle School Robotics Team and a robotics curriculum that includes middle school and high school classes.

While the robotics program is my professional passion, I do enjoy other activities. I enjoy repurposing items that I find at auctions or garage sales. I love to fish in the summer time with my wife, children, and grandchildren. I will take any opportunity to go to a Royals game and have recently started the tradition of taking my grandson to Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph. I also used to sing in a rock band, so when I get a chance to do karaoke, I am all in. As a former English teacher, I do still like to write the occassional poem or story and read a good book when I get the chance.
