Independent Reading

You are expected to read at home and in class on a daily basis. We will set a personal reading goal. You may choose your independent reading books. The books you read may come from the school library, my classroom library, a friend or family member, the public library, a bookstore....the options are endless. Most importantly, find something you enjoy reading.

“If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” – J.K. Rowling

We will go to the school library every other Wednesday. You will have the chance to check-out new books or renew your current books. Be sure to record the title of any books you read on your log in your notebook.

  • Bring you book to class daily
  • Read at home daily by creating a reading routine
  • Keep your book with you in case you have extra time in other classes
  • You will sign up to present 2 book talks per quarter. You will talk about books you've read and will prepare your book talk at home.
