I was born in Princeton, Illinois, but I've spent most of my life in Idaho.
I attended elementary school in Hayden Lake, Idaho.
I graduated from Sandpoint High School in the mid 90's and went to college at the University of Idaho, in Moscow.
The summer after I graduated from college I married my high school sweetheart, Thoren Teel. That fall I taught College Algebra at the University of Idaho, but they didn't need me for the Spring semester, so I started writing a book.
The next fall I started teaching at Jerome High School, in Southern Idaho, where I taught mostly Geometry and Algebra 2.
After 12 long years, we decided to move back to North Idaho to be closer to family (and mountains and trees and water:)
I took a year off from teaching to finish my book, which still hasn't been published.
I taught Math Applications for 6 years, Yearbook for 1 year, Psychology for 3 years, Algebra 2 for 9 years, Technical Math for 11 years and AP Statistics for 6 years at Lakeland High School, in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Participated in "Think Tank" to improve teaching 2018 - 2020.
Won Teacher of the year 2016 and 2022.
This year will be my 7th teaching Geometry for Lakeland.
Also, this will be my 12th year teaching Statistics/Probability. However it will be my 6th year teaching dual credit Statistics.
The 2025-2026 school year is my 25th year teaching and my 17th year at Lakeland High School.
