* Bring all of your supplies every day – expect to work in your classes.
*Use dividers to organize your binder so you have sections for language arts, history, PE/health/STEM and your elective.
*Put papers for each class in each section as you get them – do not just shove them in the pocket in the front of your binder.
*Do a binder cleanout each weekend – make sure all of your papers are organized in the correct section and that you have no papers that should have been finished or turned in.
*Fill out the electronic planner at the start of class or end of class – even if the teacher does not tell you to – you will not remember what you did in first period at the end of the day.
*If you want your child to use their planner, take a look at it on a regular basis and double check that they are getting in the habit.
*Bring your main binder home every night – you can’t do your homework if you leave it at school or forget what you need to do.
*Set aside a time and place for homework. No homework? Practice your reading skills for half an hour.
*If you do not turn work in, you do not get points, which means you don’t pass classes.
*If you don’t finish your homework – finish it and turn it in the next day for late points (25% off). Late points are better than no points.
*Check the teacher websites or Google Classroom for assignments.
*Check Skyward on a regular basis to see how you are doing and if you have anything missing. (Skyward will not tell you when something is due – that is what websites are for.)
*Ask what you missed if you are absent – then get it done and turned in within the next two days. The teacher probably will not remind you to turn it in.
*If you get a bad grade on an assignment and you don’t understand why, ask the teacher, and ask if you can redo it.
*Parents and students - ask for help if you are struggling!
