Welcome to middle school. We will be working to make the transition as easy as possible. Things you can do to help on your end:
6th Grade Tips
*Make sure your child checks their school email on a regular basis.
*Start checking Skyward after a week of so. Do so on a regular basis.
*If a student has a poor grade on an assignment in Skyward, check to see if there are teacher comments posted with it. If the assignment was done on Google Classroom, the teacher may have left comments there as well. They may be able to fix it for more points. They almost always can for my classes.
*Make sure they are getting enough sleep - lack of sleep produces symptoms similar to ADHD.
*E-mail when you have questions or concerns - you are your child's best advocate!
*Try to help them find a quiet place in the house to do schoolwork and have any needed supplies nearby so they have everything they need.
*Have kids pack their backpack in the evening so they don't forget things.
*Go through your student's binder with them every couple of weeks. Are they keeping things organized. Do they have any ungraded or unfinished work that needs to be finished and turned in? Also, do they have enough of the basic supplies - paper, pencils, highlighters?
*Send them to school with healthy foods and limit sugar in the morning - you would be surprised how many kids show up to school with sugary drinks and candy.
*Check our websites or Google Classroom if your child does not remember if they have homework or not.
