Dr. Puvadol Doydee is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agro-Industry at Kasetsart University Chalermphrakiat Sakon Nakhon Province Campus (KUCSC), Sakon Nakhon, Thailand.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from Kasetsart University in 1998. Following graduation, he worked in the field of fisheries resource management at the Department of Fisheries for one year before being appointed to a Fisheries Biologist position at Kasetsart University.
In 2000, he was awarded a full scholarship from the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEAMEO-SEARCA) to pursue a Master of Science degree in Information Technology for Natural Resources Management at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia. He completed his degree in 2002, specializing in the applications of remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for natural resources management.
In 2005, he received a DAAD–SEARCA full scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Philippines, and successfully completed his doctoral studies in 2008.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Doydee has been actively involved in international research collaborations. In 2003, he served as a coordinator for collaborative research activities with researchers from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), USA. In 2004, he was selected by the organizing committee of the Coastal Zone Asia-Pacific Conference (CZAP 2004) to present his peer-reviewed research on remote sensing as an oral presentation in Brisbane, Australia.
He also gained valuable experience through the Coastal Habitat Resources Management (CHARM) Project, where he worked closely with international consultants in 2004. During his stay at UPLB, Laguna, Philippines, he was elected by the international student community to serve as President of the International Students Association (ISA) for the 2006–2007 term.
In 2009, he was selected by the panel of the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA), Singapore, to present his research proposal in Hanoi, Vietnam.
He also gained experience through the Coastal Habitat Resources Management (CHARM) Project, where he worked with international consultants in 2004.
During his stay at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Laguna, Philippines, he was elected by international students to serve as President of the International Students Association (ISA) of UPLB for the 2006–2007 term. In 2009, he was selected by the panel of the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA), Singapore, to present his research proposal in Hanoi, Vietnam.
In 2010, he was awarded a grant to attend a regional course on Environmental Economics in the Philippines. During the same year, he was selected as an exchange researcher at Hokkaido University (HU), Japan, where he conducted research on fisheries and remote sensing from 1 July to 15 August 2010.
From 3–11 August 2011, he was nominated by the University to participate in the Asian Economic Community (AEC) Program for the Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan Provinces Chapter. The program involved collaborative work across Thailand, Lao PDR, China, and Vietnam, where he served as a project collaborator and fisheries consultant. He has also collaborated with CIRAD and CANSEA on conservation agriculture projects. In December 2013, he presented concepts and applications of geospatial methods at the 4th International Conference on Conservation Agriculture held in Battambang, Cambodia.
In 2016–2017, he was selected by the USAID PROGRESS Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, to serve as an ASEAN–U.S. Science and Technology Fellow. His work focused on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction for small-scale farmers.
In addition to his academic and research activities, he held several administrative positions. From 2020 to 2022, he served as Advisor to the Dean for Foreign Affairs. He also served as the Kasetsart University Water–Energy–Food (KU-WEF) Nexus Coordinator from 2020 to 2024. The project focused on the Lower Mekong Basin and involved collaboration with Nanjing Agricultural University, China, and Michigan State University, USA.
Currently, his research focuses on remote sensing for disaster management.
