Academic Activities

Apart from tutoring the Public International Law Module at the School of Law and Administration, I am working on a research project focusing on the Tigris and Euphrates riparian states national water laws and the role of the International water law to solve the interstate transboundary water conflicts.

At the same time, I am participating in a project sponsored by Strategic Foresight Group is a Mumbai based think tank, which has especially been examining the possibilities in the ET basin of the different possible confidence building measures between the riparian states.

Recent Activities

As the Public International Law lecturer, I arranged two sets of very interesting competitions, they were: (as the Coach and the Judge)

1. International Moot Court of Justice at the Department level.

2. Diplomatic Negotiations between two groups of young bright law students, whose ambition to become Kurdish representative abroad in the future.

JESSUP 2013-2014

I was the Coach for the Koya University JESSUP International Moot Court for the Law Department student, representing Koya University. I trained them 4 days a week from November 1st 2013 to the last day when the competition took place on January 23rd 2014. The students have shown a dramatic improvement in their English Language competencies and have learnt the best legal profession practice particularly in the field of Public International Law and how to best present as an international Lawyer. That was a good step forward to show that Koya University's Law Department, like other Iraqi Universities' Law Departments, is capable to attend challenging competitions at both national and international levels.

Delivering Workshops

March 2014 Petroleum Industry and its Legal Features A full-day workshop delivered to (upon their request) the new KRG MPs and the Senior Leaders of the Islamic Group of the KRG on 03/03/2014. I delivered 4 lectures on the following topics: History of the Petroleum Industry from 1850-2003, Basics of Petroleum Economics, Constitutional issues between the KRG PSAs and the Iraqi Federal Government approaches, and the legal, economic and political roles of the KRG oil industry at national, regional and global levels.

October 2011 Oil and Gas Contracts Workshop; a workshop delivered to the Suleymaniyah Department of Geology, KRG’ Ministry of Natural Resources, on the nature and current practice of Oil and Gas Contracts on 28/10/2011.

May 2014 I made one big banner for the Law Department explaining all important chapters for the Law of Treaties. It is worth mentioning that this banner can come the first banner ever throughout Iraq at the Law Departments levels, which explains the whole law of treaty.
