My Phiosophy in Teaching

My current role focusses on Molecular Biology used in the School of Medical Microbiology department. Teaching and learning are viewed from two perspectives: First of all, the traditional view point sees teaching as the process of imparting information, skills or values to others by word or by example and learning is the process of receiving instruction and getting the meaning of facts and concepts. Secondly, in this modern era teaching and learning recommends that the teacher manages the learning and makes it easier, faster and safer for learners by creating an enabling learning environment which makes learning possible. I see teaching as involving a reciprocal relationship between teachers and students-I believe that teachers have duties to their students and that students have duties to their teachers and fellows students.
