Mrs. Young

I am beginning my 24th year of teaching this year. I started teaching in Houston in the Cypress-Fairbanks school district where I taught kindergarten for 5 years. I moved back to East Texas and taught the next 11 years at Jones Elementary in Tyler ISD. While in Tyler I taught Kindergarten, first grade, third grade, and fifth grade.

This year your child will have the benefit of being in a Co-Teach setting. Co-Teaching is an educational approach where a general education teacher (myself) and a specialist (Lacy Latham) work as partners to cooperatively design, plan, and implement lessons that are designed for all students in an inclusion classroom. Mrs. Latham will push into my classroom for one hour during each math class. We will both teach lessons, pull small groups, as well as work with individual students. Co-Teaching does not only benefit students that might have difficulty with a certain skill, it will also push the ones that are excelling. Mrs.Latham and I strive to help each student to be successful.
