A Little Bit About Mrs. Martin

Hello!  My name is Tracy Martin.  I am a first grade teacher and the First Grade Chair here at Sealston.   This is my nineteenth year teaching at SES.  Go Wildcats!

I attended Penn State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kindergarten and Elementary Education.  I did my student teaching as well as a year of substitute teaching in Altoona, Pennsylvania before relocating to King George County with my husband (JD) and son (Nathan).  JD is retired, and Nathan is now a graduate of Old Dominion University and works in Northern Virginia.  I am proud to say that I am a former King George County School's Teacher of the Year.

Before attending Penn State University, I spent ten years as a secretary/administrative assistant and another four years as a therapeutic parent working with children with emotional and behavioral issues.  It was a combination of the time spent working with those children and watching my own son blossom in his learning that brought me to the classroom.  There is nothing better than witnessing those “ah-ha!” moments on a child’s face as they master a concept or learn something new.

When I’m not teaching or working on schoolwork, I enjoy reading, cooking, taking walks, board games, puzzles, thrift shopping, and spending time with friends and family.  I also enjoy watching the birds and butterflies in my back yard and spending time with my pets.
