Hello! My name is Megan Byer, and it is my pleasure facilitate learning, teach new concepts, and inspire creativity in our 7th grade English Language Arts classroom at Van Buren Middle School in Kettering, Ohio. I teach Honors ELA and General ELA. I am thrilled to be heading into my thirteenth year at VBMS! Our school provides an amazing, supportive community full of focused and diverse learning opportunities, activities, and fantastic teachers/staff. I am so proud to be a FIREBIRD!!
The previous statement is momentous especially considering my background. I am originally from Centerville, Ohio where I graduated as an Elk. (But don't worry... I am a convert now!). Growing up in the Dayton-area, I have a true appreciation for the history, development, and scope of the broader Dayton-area. In addition, I am always looking for new opportunities to learn about our community and help our students make connection in both our corner of the world and on a global scale. I am so thankful to work and live in such a warm and welcoming community!
Teaching and students are a daily conversation at our dinner table! My family is comprised of six teachers. My husband, Scott is a teacher at Kettering Fairmont High School. We have two active and dynamic boys, Nolan and Cole. I love to talk about my little ones, and I encourage parents to please tell me all about their kids as well!
