The MoHS Library Learning Commons operates on an open schedule that is accessible and welcoming to the entire school community. Teachers can reserve space using our Media Center Reservation System (see For Teachers). Beverages, snacks and lunches are permitted. The Learning Commons areas described below are flexible and easily customized to accommodate teacher, student, and community needs.
The Atrium - Main Library/Center Common Area
Our central space is divided into multiple flexible spaces, such as readers’ lounge areas, several areas with small table seating, and our books, of course! Social interaction and collaborative work are encouraged. Students are welcome any time throughout the school day with a pass from their teacher.
The Studio
Available to the school community for creating and recording digital products. Groups using the studios include: Music Tech Independent Study students, classroom teachers and students, Independent Study / Research students, Mustang Morning music CD production, student groups, students with a free period that have submitted a Project Sheet and behavior contract (with parent/caregiver permission).
Glassroom
A semi-private instructional area, featuring a mounted, short-throw projector. All Library Learning Commons resources and staff are available in a room with a glass wall that serves as an effective sound buffer, making this an effective, yet comfortable instructional area.
Makerspace - M107
The goal of the Maker Space is to facilitate classroom and independent projects that produce hands-on, collaborative products. The Maker Space is equipped with tools, craft supplies, and a Cameo 2-D Digital Fabricator. This space also features a "green screen" for video production, Glassboards, and a set of 10 individual whiteboards. Flexible furniture and a casual setting in combination with the aforementioned equipment encourage the writing process and foster critical thinking, collaboration, and connectivity. It is suitable for activities that require more space than the typical classroom.
The Green Room
Named for it's colored walls, these two connected rooms are reserved for small group study and work.
The Break Room
A room provided for "quiet contemplation..." our quiet study area.
MHS Helpdesk
Located to the right of the entrance, the helpdesk houses student volunteers who perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on student laptops.
