About Me

Welcome to the Title I class website. I'm Mrs. Amber Heirigs.  This is my 14th year teaching. I have taught at Baltic for six years now as their Reading Interventionist. I absolutely love teaching here in Baltic, and teaching Reading interventions. This year I will be teaching Reading Interventions for grades K-3. In addition to teaching Title, I am also EL Coordinator and teacher for our EL students. So I am splitting my time teaching reading interventions and English Language Developement (ELD) to our English Learners. This year we have another certified teacher teaching title, in addition to me.  Mrs. Tricia Ochsner teaches Title Math for grades K-5 and Title Reading for grades 4-5.

Before teaching at Baltic, I taught elementary special education for various school districts in South Dakota. During that time I worked mainly with students who struggled with reading, math, and ADD/ADHD.

I graduated from Deuel High School in 2005.  I went to Dakota State University, and I received my Bachelor's degree in K-12 Special Education and K-8 Elementary Education in 2010.  I received my Master's degree at the University of South Dakota in 2015 for Reading Specialist. I received my English as a New Language (ENL) Endorsement through Dakota Wesleyan University in December 2020.

My husband Keith is a Journeyman electrician for Sorlien Electric. We have two daughters, Audrey (6) and Lillian (4) .  We had e twin girls, Evelyn and Natalie, October of this year, so we are extra busy. We also have a dog named Walter (10).

Please if you have questions, concerns, or anything please do not hesitate to email or call me.  :)
