1. Capitalize the first word of a sentence.

2. Capitalize the pronoun "I".

3. Use the correct form of the following word groups:

    • your, you're
    • their, they're, there
    • to/too/ two
    • were/where/we're

4. Use correct punctuation at the end of a sentence

5. Use a comma before a coordinating conjunction (and, but, so).

6. Do not begin a sentence with a coordinating conjunction (and, but, so).

7. Use the the word "a lot" no more than two times in a piece of writing.

8. Be sure every sentence is a complete sentence. It has a subject and a verb, and it expresses a complete thought.

9. Use the correct pronoun case.

10. Only use an apostrophe when the word shows ownership or there is a contraction.

11. When answering a question, restate the question in your answer.

12. Indent paragraphs; do not skip lines between paragraphs.

13. Capitalize proper nouns; do not capitalize common nouns unless they begin a sentence or are parts of a title.
