Science Units

Introductory Unit = In this unit, we will study about how we know if something is alive or not alive.

Cell Unit = In this unit. we will study the basic unit of an organism, the cell. We will study types of cells (prokaryotic vs eukaryotic), parts of the cell (nucleus, cell membrane, etc. ), and processes that occur in the cell (photosynthesis, mitosis, etc. ).

Genetic Unit = In this unit, we will study why an organism looks the way it does. This means studying certain processes that deal with genes and DNA.

Kingdom Unit = In this unit, we will study how organisms are classified into phyla. This means looking at each phylum and learning basic characteristics for each.

Plant Unit = In this unit, we will study the different types of plants (nonvascular vs vascular) and the parts of a vascular plant (root, stem, leaf).

Animalia Unit = In this unit, we will study the two different types of animals (vertebrate vs nonvertebrate) and

Human Anatomy Unit = In this unit, we will study the different systems in the human body. Within each system, we will study why each is important and the parts for each.

Ecology Unit = In this unit, we will study the interactions between the organisms and nonlivings parts of the environment.
