Course Description:
Welcome to 8th Grade U.S. History (1877–2008)!
In this class, we’ll explore the dynamic journey of the United States from the end of Reconstruction through the 21st century. Together, we’ll examine how America grew as a nation—socially, economically, and politically—by studying key events such as industrialization, the World Wars, the Civil Rights Movement, the Cold War, and beyond. Students will investigate the challenges and triumphs that shaped the modern U.S., learning to think critically about the past and how it connects to the present.
Get ready to uncover stories of innovation, struggle, leadership, and change as we build a deeper understanding of American history—and your place in it.

Students are expected to come to class each day on time and PREPARED with necessary items including something to write with and as an 8th grade student, you should have the ability to keep yourselves organized through the use of a notebook, folder or binder of your choice. Beyond being prompt and prepared, classroom expectations center around the following: ADAPTABLE- Come into the classroom ready to be adaptable to make smooth transitions between independent work and group work, CARING- Respect yourself, your classmates, your environment; ENGAGED- RAISE - your hand, your confidence, your expectations; and FOLLOW- class procedures, all directions, and school policies.
As your teacher you can expect me to provide an organized and safe learning environment, to both push and encourage you, and to teach you the skills necessary to have successful educational careers.
