I graduated from Jenkintown High School (go REDS!) and worked at the Jenkintown Library and the Franklin Institute Science Museum before attending Virginia Tech. While I started as a Mechanical Engineering student, I bounced through Chemistry, Marketing, Ancient History, and Food and Restaurant Management before realizing I loved teaching.
I taught in St Pete, FL for two years before returning to Pennsylvania where I spent eleven years in the Philadelphia School District teaching middle school math and K-8 Computer Science before I became the Tech Director for the South Philadelphia Cluster, administering Link-to-Learn and e-Rate programs while providing professional development for K-12 teachers.
I returned to Jenkintown for my 20th reunion and never left. At Jenkintown, I've taught 7th and 8th grade Math & Science, 7th grade Geography, High School Environmental Science, Study Skills and Computer Skills for 7th and 8th grades, and Meteorology for the Virtual High School. I've also taught pre-school (ComputerTots) and university (Drexel).
I enjoy learning new ways to understand mathematical concepts and I completely geek out at rocks and plants and snowy forecasts and running around to show the other science teachers cool stuff.
In my free time, I knit, cook, read, garden, and have deep philosophical discussions about The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars with my sons. I sing with the Philadelphia Women's Music Project.
