Inclement Weather Policy
As stated in the handbook, Saint John Paul the Great follows Prince William County Policy Schools (PWCS) in regards to school closings, late openings, and early dismissals in cases of inclement weather.
Occasionally, Saint John Paul the Great will make a decision regarding school closings and delays different than those of Prince William County. Parents should receive an automated message(phone call, e-mail, etc.) regarding such closings and delays.
If PWCS calls Code Orange, Red, or Green, there will be no in-person classes. As far as transitioning to online learning, our handbook also states "If school closes unexpectedly for a single day, there will be no academic requirements. If, however, the school is closed for an extended period of time the school will transition to elearning." We will continue to follow this policy. Elearning will be asynchronous.
We will continue to follow the county as far as 2 hour delays, with classes beginning at 9:45am.
On days Prince William County may call Code Orange, Red, or Green, all after-school activities/events will be canceled.
Types of Closings & Delays
School Closed – All after school activities/events in the school building will be cancelled.
Early Dismissal (Inclement weather) – Dismissal time will be dependent on weather situation. All after school activities/events in the school building will be cancelled.
2 Hour Delayed Opening – If there is an early dismissal scheduled, school will be dismissed at the regular time (2:40 pm). After-school activities/events will take place unless otherwise announced.
