11:45AM Early Dismissal - Wednesday, April 1st
On Wednesday, April 1st classes will dismiss at 11:45am to begin Easter break. Afternoon buses will depart at 12:05pm. There will be no after-school supervision. Students not in a supervised school activity must be off campus by 12:30pm. Please click here to access the afternoon bus schedule. The Main Office will close at noon.
Easter Break Begins Thursday, April 2nd (No School)
There will be no school beginning Thursday, April 2nd - Friday, April 10th for Easter break. The school offices will be closed. Classes will resume on Monday, April 13th (A Day).

We will be hosting a blood drive at the school on Tuesday, March 31st This is a Late Start Day Schedule. Parents are welcome to sign up. Students 16 years or older may also sign up but they must have the parent consent form signed and must weigh more than 110 pounds. (“A Student’s Guide to Blood Donation” can be found here.) UPDATE for 7 Church Pilgrimage.
Our route has been adjusted for the southern route. The Chaplain page will be updated to reflect this asap. But we will have two pick-up/drop off points for this route: JP and St. Mary's in Fredericksburg.
(If you are coming from Prince William) Meet us at JP at 9pm and feel free to drive yourself or join us on the bus! We will end here at 12pm for pick-up.
(If you are in Fredericksburg area) Meet us at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception at 9:30pm. Feel free to join us on our route back toward JP, stopping at other altars. The bus will drive back to Fredericksburg after 12pm for a 12:30/1am pick up!
April is Month of the Military Child! JP will host Purple Up Day on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 to celebrate Month of the Military Child! Purple Up Day is a way to show support for the children of Military members and their families within our school. The color purple represents all Military branches and the members within them. All students are invited to wear purple with jeans or khakis on Tuesday, April 14th.
JP's Military Service Club and Student Ambassadors will be hosting a special Purple Up Day breakfast to show appreciation for all military-connected students on Tuesday, April 14th starting at 7:30am, parents and family welcome! In order to plan for numbers, please let us know if you and your family will attend! Please RSVP using this link by Monday, April 13, 2026.
Additionally, the Military Service Club will be requesting breakfast donations for the Purple Up Breakfast. We will send out the sign-up soon! Email admissions@jpthegreat.org with any questions.
Saturday, April 18th
Save the date for our annual Spring Fling: Father-Daughter/Mother-Son Dance! It will be on Saturday, April 18th from 7-10PM in the Main Gym. Join us for a night of fun line dances led by a caller as well as a special Senior Tribute from each senior to their parent. Tickets are 2 for $40 and can be purchased here. No dress code agreement form required for this dance. However, we do recommend wearing nice but comfortable clothes as you will be dancing the night away!

The Counseling Department is excited to host our Junior class Career Day on Tuesday, April 21st from 10am - 2pm in the school library.
The purpose is to equip our students with the professional skills they need to succeed in college and beyond and to foster valuable relationships between our students and local businesses. Students will have the opportunity to meet with experts in various fields and receive valuable feedback on professionalism and career development.

John Paul the Great is seeking a dependable and organized Part-Time Concessions Manager to oversee concessions during daily after school sales as well as athletic and school events. The ideal candidate will manage inventory, coordinate student and parent volunteers, and ensure concessions are consistently open and ready to serve our students and families. This role involves significant physical activity, including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for extended periods, and move equipment as needed. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and being an active part of our vibrant school community.
The starting salary for this position is $15 per hour, and the role includes up to a 25% tuition discount. Responsibilities include opening and closing the concession stand, handling cash reconciliations, and ensuring all food safety requirements are met. Applicants should have strong communication skills and a flexible schedule to accommodate afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend games.
