Welcome!

Since you are considering becoming part of the Jersey Mike’s Team, there are certain things that you need to know.  The information provided will help you to become a better team member. If hired this information should be kept for future reference.

The following information is what is expected of you as a Team Member of Jersey Mike’s.

Attitude 

At Jersey Mike’s, we believe that a positive attitude is a top priority. Customer satisfaction is a direct reflection of the attitude behind our counter. A positive work environment builds a strong, long lasting relationship with our customers and our employees. All of our team members are expected to be friendly and accommodating at all times while representing Jersey Mike’s.  Attitude is very contagious!  Both happiness and sadness can be detected by our customers and will affect their experience in either a positive or negative manner.  We want them to catch happiness!  Each and every customer should feel like a member of the Jersey Mike’s Team and should leave our restaurant feeling better than they did when they walked in.

 

Code of Honor 

ALL products MUST be entered into the register with a printed employee signed receipt BEFORE consumption. Taking or consuming any item without it being purchased will be viewed as theft, and will not be taken lightly. We are expecting to hire loyal, honest, and responsible team members. In the event that food, beverages, equipment, or money are stolen that employee will be terminated immediately.

If you steal from Jersey Mike’s, you will be caught. Crimes will be reported to the police and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 

In the event an employee is given a key to the store, there is an understanding that it will be used for work purposes only! Employees entering the store during non business hours will be terminated immediately.

All Jersey Mikes employees are expected to be drug free.  Random drug testing can be performed at any time.

Every employee will be provided with at least one shirt and one apron. It is your responsibility to take care of these items. If additional items would like to be purchased this must be discussed with the manager.

All employees are expected to show up to work in full uniform, with shirt tucked in, apron on, and ready to work.

 

Uniform Requirements

1. An approved Jersey Mike’s apron must be worn at all times behind the counter.

(Apron must be removed when entering the bathrooms or when outside of store/garbage.)

2. Provided Jersey Mike’s Shirt must be worn, and all buttons except the top button must be buttoned at all times.

3. If a Jersey Mike’s hat or visor is worn, it must be worn correctly. Never sideways or backwards.

4. A brown or black belt must be worn.

5. Khaki pants must be worn, never Jeans or Shorts. (Only slacks or chino’s are acceptable, no cargo pants or extra pockets.)

 

Hair 

Women: All hair must be pulled back away from the face, or tucked under your hat. All hair must be off of the shoulder. 

Men: Long hair must be pulled back, and no hair should be touching the collar. All employees must be clean shaven. No facial hair is allowed.

Hats must be worn for employees without short hair.

 

Jewelry and Tattoos 

All tattoos must be covered and not visible to customers. Any piercing in tongue, lip, eyebrow, nose, cheek, etc. must be removed before work. Women may only have stud earrings in during work.  No earrings allowed for males.  Watches and necklaces are not permitted. Only wedding rings may be worn, all other rings must be removed. (Occupational Hazards)

 

Smoking 

Smoking is not permitted while in a Jersey Mike’s uniform, during a shift, or on store premises.

 

Being On Time

If you are scheduled to work at 3 p.m. you are expected to be in full uniform, and ready to work at 3 p.m.  3:01 is considered late and the clock on the register is what we use for time, not the clock in your car or on your cell phone.  Employees should arrive no later than 10 minutes before a shift begins. This time can be used for using the bathroom, making food, schedule requests, etc.

In the case that unforeseen circumstances arise (traffic, accident, road closing, or any unexpected delay) it is required to call the store and inform the manager that you will be late. You will not be disciplined for being late as long as you call the store and speak to the manager.

 

Cell Phones

All cell phones must be kept in the back of the store, and will NEVER be brought out behind the counter.  Any cell phone found behind the counter will be seized.  The ringer must be turned off before entering the store.  Using your cell phone is a privilege and can be revoked at any time.  If you need to use your cell phone you must request a break from your manager.

 

Employee Discount 

Every employee, on or off the clock, will receive a discount of 50% off of the ticketed price.  If an employee brings friends or family into the store, the employee will receive 50% off of their food and their food only, everyone in their group will pay full price even if the employee is the one paying.  No discount on bottled drinks or large bags of chips.  All products must be entered into the register no matter how big or small.

 

Employees under 18

All employees under the age of 18 are not permitted to use the meat slicer at any time no matter what! It is illegal to use these items under the age of 18. By signing this policy guide you are aware of these facts, and you agree to abide by the law.

 

Menu Knowledge

All employees are required to know the menu thoroughly. You will be required to learn this before you are a Jersey Mikes Team member.

 

Schedule 

On the same day each week the manager will post the following week’s schedule.  Following weeks schedule will be posted by Saturday.

Jersey Mikes is very flexible with employees’ schedules.  However, all requests MUST be made by Thursday for the following week.  If no request is made by Thursday you are considered to be available any day or night for the following week.  All requests should be posted on the calendar at the employee board.

If you need time off on a short notice and the schedule is already posted, you and you alone are responsible to find someone to cover your shift.  If you find a coworker to cover your shift, you must first get the switch approved by your manager.  The manager will make the change and initial the schedule.  Until that is done you are solely responsible to show up for your shift.

 

No Show Policy

Everyone scheduled at Jersey Mikes is vital to daily operations.  If you do not show up for your shift without notice you will be terminated.  If you are late more than 3 times you will also be terminated.

 

Parking 

Parking spots in front of the store are reserved for customers.  All employees must park at the top of the lot or behind the store.  Please ask your manager where the approved spots are for your store.
