During our Humanities block we will engage in
Reading, Writing, and Social Studies concepts
In reading, students will have the opportunity to connect in authentic,
purposeful reading in a variety of settings (whole-group, small-group, individual) and using a variety of genres in order to inspire a culture of readers.
We will be using HMH Into Reading curriculum systemically along with Scholastic Storyworks as a writing supplemental tool.
Students will demonstrate and apply their knowledge in Writing by creating essays that are mainly academic in nature. We do a lot of nonfiction work.
Ralston uses the writing component of HMH curriculum systemically.
In Social Studies, we will be learning how we acquire information from studying civics, economics, geography, history, how it connects the past and helps us understand the present.
We will be learning all about Colorado! Before, Becoming, Defining, Growth, and Today
Throughout our studies we will synthesize and analyze significant events, people, topics, and patterns seen in the past and present.
We will close read primary and secondary sources examining the people, customs, beliefs, patterns, and adaptations made in Colorado.
