Weekly Instruction

Literacy

Reading: We will be introducing our last unit of reading, which focuses on poetry. Studying poetry helps build fluency.

Powers: Pointer power, sound power, picture power, persistence power, reread power, and fluency.

Letters: c, o, a, d, g, l, m, h, t, j, i, p, k, u, b, ch, r, f, n, e, s, w, v, x, y, z, sh, th, qu, Open and Closed Syllables, compound words, ar, or, ir, er, ur, magic e.

Writing: We will begin our last unit called stories about ourselves. Students will understand that it may take several attempts to tell a story, they will work to persevere through obstacles they face.

Math

In Math we will be wrapping up our year with unit 5. In this unit we will review and master concepts. Students will review 2D and 3D shapes, teen numbers, sequencing, skip counting, addition and subtraction, word problems, counting, and measurement.

Social Studies

In this unit we will look at different cultures to understand how they live. We will research and discuss different types of housing, food, clothing, and other ways of life.
