Creative Sculpture 7th and 8th Grade

Hello and Welcome,

My name is Beth Hendrix and I love what I do! I started my career back in 1987 as a student teacher at Pacacho Junior High School in Las Cruces NM. With graduating in 1988 from New Mexico State University, I started teaching drawing and painting at Canyon Springs High School, in Moreno Valley California. I then started working solely with ceramics and pottery with senior high students. In 1993, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, Curriculum Specialist from California State, San Bernardino, CA.

Student Art Work

Moving to Colorado in 1994, I was hoping to find a high school art position, but instead, was hired as a middle school art teacher. This career change took me by surprise, teaching at Lewis Palmer Middle School in Monument, CO, I felt I would give it a year or two….. Nine years later, teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade art was my passion. I am still teaching middle school art, and have never looked back. Teaching here at Summit Ridge Middle School since August of 2003, it has been a pleasure. My 7th and 8th grade students are prepared to enter high school with a strong understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. I also received a CTE license, Career Technology Education, in 2014 and currently working on designing curriculum for Jeffco Visual Arts Program.

In closing, Summit Ridge, by far, has the most loving and positive learning environment for our students. Our school is supported by a group of caring professional teachers, administrators and active parents, that only enhance our student’s ability to thrive and succeed.
