Review & Practice

1. Teacher intro & how-to on Audacity (video HERE, start at 35s)

2. Download Audacity

3. Open Audacity

4. Use Google to search for songs to download (lyrics & instrumental)

5. Convert the song for Audacity

- Find your video on iBoss

- Copy the URL into en.savefrom.net

- Download the file as an MP4

- Go to https://online-audio-converter.com/

1. Click [OPEN FILES] and choose your MP4 download

2. Change the type to a [WAV] file- be sure to wait for your file to load

3. Click [CONVERT]

- Drag the new WAV file from the download bar onto the desktop

6. Upload/drag 1 song into audacity to edit

7. Practice dropping audio levels

8. Practice recording your voice over the song

- Use the red record button

9. Upload another song

10. Practice overlaying the songs

- Trim and change as you desire

11. Practice dropping the volume on the songs & remixing

- Use the speaker and volume controls to the left of the speaker track

3. Create a ringtone that does not have lyrics- instrumental only.

- Practice dropping and raising the volume.

4. Make another ringtone that overlays two songs (remix).

- Practice intermingling the vocals and instrumentals.

5. Make a final ringtone that includes your voice (record).

- Practice voice editing and modifications.

6. Save and upload all three onto your 'Music Video' page.

7. Class gallery walk to explore everyone's ringtones.

8. Class discussion about which ringtones were successful and/or which techniques would be good for our final project (music videos).

Criteria for Success:

Students will apply previous experience to edit audio files.

Students will be able to modify existing audio files into 3 different ringtones.

Students will demonstrate the ability to work with appropriate software tools.

Students will use critical thinking skills in a 'gallery walk' to listen to/critique other students' ringtones.
