About Me

I came to Colorado as an "Air Force brat" when I was in 4th grade, and I attended Doherty High School in Colorado Springs before heading to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. My bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and masters degree in Secondary English Education were both earned at ASU. I've worked in public relations for a professional sports team (NBA Phoenix Suns), in pharmaceutical sales (Johnson & Johnson), and in education as an English/Honors English teacher. Prior to coming to Dakota Ridge in 2014, I taught in the Paradise Valley and Deer Valley School Districts in the north Phoenix area.  After spending 26 years in Phoenix, we moved to Colorado to be near family, escape the 115+ summers, and experience a true change of seasons again.  I feel most fortunate for my family.  Our son, a graduate of the CSU undergraduate and graduate programs, and his wife, live in Denver, and he works in student support for higher education.  Our oldest daughter, a graduate of DRHS, CSU Undergraduate Program, and CU-Denver Graduate School, lives with her husband and baby girl in Iowa, where she is a technology teacher. Our youngest daughter is a graduate of DRHS, a graduate of Colorado State University in the field Natural Resources, and is currently working in the tourism industry.  My husband has worked in the National Basketball Association for nearly 40 years, which is how we met, and we have been married for 32 years.  He is currently part of the NBA New Orleans Pelicans staff, and we spend a great deal of time watching basketball! We are also an active family and enjoy hiking, the outdoors, travel, and spending time with our dogs (I LOVE DOGS). We lost our beloved Ellie (in the above photo) a few summers back. We still have our quirky Muggle (carrying the orange stick in the photo below). We have also added Odie to our pack; he is 1 year old golden retriever. I am a Disney and Harry Potter fan and have been to Disney World and Disneyland many, many times! :)
