About Mrs. L

Taking photos at the Grand Canyon!

Hello! Welcome to my website, contained here you will find my contact information as well as a bit of my background history...

I have always loved to create, from a very young age I knew that art was my passion.  (Secretly I wanted to be an artist for Disney.)  I grew up in Lakewood and attended Jeffco schools my entire childhood, taking as many art classes as I could.

Upon graduating I attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where I received my bachelors degree in K-12 Visual Arts with an emphasis in painting and photography.  I began my teaching career in Longmont, Colorado where I taught Jewelry, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting for three years at Longmont High.  Good fortune brought me back to where I grew up and I have now taught in the Jeffco School district for 15 years by way of Green Mountain and Alameda High School.  During that time I also completed my masters degree in Visual Arts from UNC.

I am very excited to be starting my 10th year at D'Evelyn Jr/Sr!  I love teaching art, it is my passion. Inspiring students to develop their artistic abilities and to hone their creativity is my goal.  I love seeing what students can create and watching the wonder of them learning something new.

My hope is that all students at DHS will take an art class and find a passion for creating art as well as an appreciation for other artists and different mediums.  I very much believe that anyone can create art as long as a little effort is put forth.  If there is a willingness to be courageous and take risks when it comes to trying new things in art, success will surely follow.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two awesome kiddos.  We spend lots of time hiking, camping, kayaking, painting, reading, riding bikes, playing soccer and lacrosse and watching anything Marvel!

I truly enjoy all aspects of art, rarely have I found a medium that I don't enjoy to do.  Currently I am working on acrylic paintings based off of abandoned places and origami, taking LOTS of photos outside, sometimes taking wedding and senior photography (although I'd rather take pics of nature!),  and dabbling with merging my drawings into digital photography with computer graphics as well as spray paint art.  As long as I am creating and being creative I am happy.

Hope to see you in an art class!  Cheers!
