I am a firm believer in the importance of student-athlete leadership, balance, and success. My lifelong love for swimming started at the age of 5 in Aurora, Colorado at MACS where I eventually earned All-Stars, Zones, Sectional, and All-Colorado honors. For Smoky Hill High School, I was a Colorado 5A state relay champion, state record holder, All-Colorado, NISCA Swimming All-American, NISCA Academic All-American, International Baccalaureate Diploma graduate, and AP Scholar. At Claremont McKenna College in California, I was an NCAA Division III All-American, SCIAC conference champion and record holder, NCAA Academic All-American, and honors graduate with a degree in International Relations. I was an active masters swimmer with masters world championships medals and top-10 age group world rankings.
I’ve worked with thousands of students and swimmers as a classroom teacher, program director, and swim coach in California, China, and Hong Kong; most recently as the Head of Aquatics for Kellett School (a group of British international schools in Hong Kong) from 2018-2022. I am an American Swimming Coaches Association Level 5 International Age Group certified coach having had the privilege to work with and lead learn-to-swim to AAAA-standard swimmers of all ages. In addition to D'Evelyn's Head Swim Coach, I also coach at Foothills Swim Team, helping to lead our Senior 1 group.
Kathleen is excited to join the D’Evelyn AquaJags for the 2024 boys swim season. A 20-year Army Veteran, she moved to Littleton, CO in 2020. She developed her love of swimming at an early age and began doing so competitively at the age of 7. She was a 4-year NCAA Division I swimmer at West Point, competing in the Patriot League. A proud distance swimmer, Kathleen believes strongly in the value of hard work and humility both in and out of the pool.
After graduating with a BS in Chemistry & Life Sciences, she transitioned to distance running and triathlons. She competed in the annual Army 10-miler for various post teams where she was assigned and ran five marathons; qualifying for the Boston Marathon three times. Kathleen was selected as a member of the All-Army Triathlon Team to compete at the Armed Forces Triathlon Championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Now retired from competitive sports, Kathleen is an active member of the Foothills Masters Swim Team. She is in her fourth season coaching the Foothills Fast Fins Swim Team where she enjoys developing young athletes. When not at the pool, Kathleen is spending time with her husband, three children or walking their two dogs. Kathleen is ready to share her leadership development skills and her love of swimming.
Susan began her athletic career as a swimmer at the age of 9. At the age of 13, she made her first Junior National qualifying time in the 200m fly and held the 13-14 Hawaiian Age Group record in that event. She also broke the Junior National West record in that event at the age of 15 as well as the Southern California 15-16 AG Record. She went on to swim at the University of Alabama.
Once completing her swim career, Susan moved to CO to earn her master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at CU Boulder. It is there that she discovered the sport of triathlon and went on to win Olympic Bronze in Athens in 2004 - the first American Olympic medal in triathlon. In 2015, Susan was inducted into the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame.
In addition to coaching at D'Evelyn, Susan is a personal trainer, Masters swim coach, swim instructor, and coaches endurance athletes of all ages and abilities. She has 3 children between ages 15-24.
I have been involved in the swimming and diving world for many years! First as a four year diver for Columbine High School and then as a Coach for South Jeffco. I have been coaching both the girls and boys diving teams for D’Evelyn, Columbine, Chatfield, and Dakota Ridge since 2015. I love being at the pool and watching athletes learn how to dive. Fun fact, you aren’t a real diver until you’ve smacked the water ;)
I graduated from the University of Denver in 2016 with a degree in International Business and Marketing and I currently work for a Pharmaceutical company. Most of my free time away from work and the pool is spent either traveling or planning my next trip! I have visited 23 States and 14 countries. Ireland is my favorite place that I have ever visited and lived in!
