I was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado and graduated from Aurora Central High School. I grew up among diversity and adversity, which helped cultivate my interest in working with other people.
As a senior in high school, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, this experience taught me how precious my life is. With a little help from my mentors and teachers, that traumatic experience created a passion for pursuing a better self and a better life. I set my hopes on becoming a teacher so that I could do for other students what my teachers had done for me. My life has been a testament to the idea that you do not have to settle or fall victim to your story, you can learn to thrive. From that moment forward, I have worked hard day in and day out to try and help others around me who are in need of that same support and guidance that I once needed.
When I am not at Golden teaching, I love to hike, swim, camp... anything outdoors.
I attended CSU as a first generation student, where I earned my Bachelors in Family and Consumer Science Education. I was hired at Golden March of my Senior year of college and have loved every second that I have been here. I love calling Golden High School my home away from home. Throughout the course of the year I will teach a variety of classes including Culinary Nutrition, Child Development, and Life Management. I believe that FCS offers students the opportunity to learn real world skills that will benefit them no matter what path they choose after high school.
As an FCS teacher, I am also responsible for the FCS CTSO(Career and Technical Student Organization), FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA is a student run organization that places values on community service, families, and leadership. FCCLA allows students the opportunity to participate in community service, events in the school, leadership activities, network with schools, attend conferences, plan and execute fundraisers, and compete at state and national levels.
