I received my bachelor's degree in English with a political science minor and a journalism emphasis from Christopher Newport University in 1994.
I received my master's degree in education with an emphasis in library media science from Old Dominion University in 2010.
I taught high school English from 1999 through 2004 and then became a library media specialist.
I was the library media specialist at L. P. Jackson Middle School in Surry County from 2004 through 2013.
I was the library media specialist at Windsor Elementary School from 2013 through 2015.
I have been the library media specialist here at GTMS since August of 2015.
I live in Wakefield, Virginia on a farm with my husband Scott Travis and our son Dylan, who is a student at WHS. We have a big crew of farm animals that includes Hog Island sheep, chickens, goats, pigs and a donkey named Pedro.
My favorite hobby is fishing with my husband and son in the James River and on the Chesapeake Bay. I also enjoy reading, biking, snow skiing and mostly spending time with the rest of my family who live in Surry County in Scotland Wharf by the James River.
