Activity is defined by the CAS Guide as "physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle*."
This strand of CAS emphasizes the development of life-long healthy habits related to physical well-being. You should participate at an appropriate level and on a regular basis. This doesn't only mean competitive sports. Yoga, dance, pilates, hiking and other recreational pursuits are also appropriate, as long as they involve physical exertion.
Approaches to Activity
Active experiences may take any of the following forms:
Ongoing activity: Students continue with active experiences they have had in the past, but are encouraged to further extend and develop their participation.
School-based activity: Students may take part in school-sponsored activities such as sports teams and clubs.
Community-based activity: This can include participation in local club or recreational teams as well as lessons and classes.
Individual activity: You may decide to pursue an active endeavor in solitude, such as running, biking or going to a gym. These kinds of experiences must include a plan (including risk assessment), personal goals and a method for sharing your progress and any outcomes. They should take place over an extended duration of time.
