FOCUS: Online Workshops for Educator Social Emotional Learning

Workshop Title

Nurturing Our Teacher SELf (Part 1)

When we consider our goal to provide positive SEL outcomes for our students, one key contributing factor we must engage with is our own social and emotional health. As educators, the ‘emotional labor’ of working in schools requires us to consistently nurture our own wellbeing, offering self-compassion, and self- and communal care. Yet, this is often hard to make happen, and new practices for wellbeing can be difficult to start and sustain. In this experiential session, we will explore the personal and professional factors that influence our sense of alignment with our best Teacher SELf, and offer a range of strategies that can nurture and sustain it. We will uncover the values that motivate us, and become clearer about our true power to create community and support each other. This session is the first half of a two-part course. The second session will be offered in early 2021.

Institute for Social Emotional Learning (IFSEL)

The Institute for Social and Emotional Learning empowers educators, young people, and parents to transform their schools into caring, inclusive communities.

The experiential learning at the heart of all our work enables educators to inspire young people to evolve into compassionate leaders and resilient learners.

Our work helps educators reshape how they see themselves, renew their inspiration and creativity, and develop their ability to build more humanity and empathy into their dynamic role as instructor-facilitator.
