Workshop Overview

Rob Thompson (ISKL’s Assistant Head of School – Operations) and his team of Directors from the Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Risk Management, and Development Department come together to share their experiences and best practices of what they do and why they do it, the challenges they face and how they overcome it.

They will also be sharing about ISKL’s new campus and its opportunities. Their concept, ideas and actions will help you manage your organization effectively. The conference is focused on providing participants quality professional learning opportunities covering a range of topics from the various departments.

Learning Outcomes

The morning session will be focusing on the current school operations, vision for future operations and building a bridge for the future. Followed by a group discussion where questions, ideas and concepts are welcomed, encouraging an interactive session.

The afternoon session will be focusing on ISKL’s New Campus. Its design, financing and organization structure and more.

Robert Thompson

Rob is the Assistant Head of School (Operations) for The International School of Kuala Lumpur. Rob has been at ISKL since March 2005. During this time ISKL has experienced an increase in enrolment from under 1,200 to over 1,600 students.Rob has been directly involved in the planning of a new school construction project, which is scheduled for completion in August 2018 at an estimated cost of around US$100 million.

Rob is a British Chartered Accountant with working experience in the UK and in Bermuda with Ernst & Young and in the USA, where he worked for the Atlanta International School.

Rob believes passionately in the power of international education to transform our world and wishes to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with colleagues in international school administration.

Thomas Abraham

Thomas Abraham is the Director of Finance for the International School of Kuala Lumpur. He has been with the school for over 10 years now and has over 28 years of experience primarily in finance and administrative positions. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia and is a Member of the institute of Internal Auditors, Malaysia. He has previous experience in audit, commercial, technology and legal publishing sectors. Working in a school environment with children and the community provides great personal satisfaction for him.

David Perrau

David Perrau is the Director of Project Operations at ISKL and has over the past 20 years held various leadership positions within the global construction industry. A recent addition to the ISKL family his focus is to ensure the successful delivery of the New ISKL Integrated Campus which is scheduled to open in 2018. David brings to ISKL an extensive background in the successful delivery of social infrastructure projects across both the educational and health sectors in Australia and the Middle East. Before joining ISKL in late 2015, David spent 20 years with a leading global contracting company progressing to the position of Project Director for the construction of the Zayed University Abu Dhabi and more recently Strategic Business Development Manager within the South East Asian region. David holds a Bachelor of Construction Management (2nd Class Honors) degree from the University of NSW, Australia and several post graduate diplomas in project management and Occupational Health and Safety.
