Where do I get a Current Event Form?

>Current Event forms are available in the classroom everyday. There are located in the basket on the chromebook cart.

>Current Event forms can also be downloaded from this website's Current Events page or Google Classroom under the 'CLASSWORK' Tab.

>In a pinch, Students can record the event on a regular sheet of paper provided the date, source, headline, summary, and connection are evident.

What should my event be about?

>As discussed and practiced in class, events should be newsworthy items and articles of at least 5 paragraphs. No weather reports, obituaries, sports scores, celebrity news, or captions as stories.

Can I write my Current Event Summary in class Friday?

>No. Current Events must be completed when entering the classroom on Friday for full credit.

Will there be newspapers available in class?

>Newspapers are available in class Monday through Thursday.

>Friday there will not be newspapers in class. Written portion is to be completed prior to class Friday

How much are Current Events worth?

10 points

Can I turn my Current Event in late?

>Late work is accepted and there will be a deduction in the overall score.

What if I am absent Thursday?

>Current Events are still due on Friday, even if a student is absent Thursday.

>Current Events are an on-going process that can be completed anytime during the week.

What if I am absent Friday?

>There are two options if a student is absent Friday.

Students may turn in their Current Event on Thursday before the absence or Monday after the absence. The overall score will not be affected due to an absence.

Do we do Current Events every Friday?

>Yes, Current Events are completed every Friday.

>If there is no school Friday, there are no current events for that week.
