Frequently Asked Questions:
What does my athlete need for wrestling?
-Athletes should have wrestling shoes and a headgear prior to the seasons start. Both can be found at sporting goods stores for relatively low prices (sometimes Play It Again has great second hand options as well). If your athlete has braces, they will need a mouthguard in order to compete.
Is wrestling a dangerous sport?
-Wrestling is an incredibly safe sport . There is a minimum of one referee assigned to every match between 2 athletes. That referee's priority is the safety of the athletes. There are a number of rules and regulations in place to ensure safe conduct takes place on the mat, such as: no biting, punching, or grabbing of clothes; the body slam, full nelson, hammerlock and grabbing of less than four fingers are all illegal.
