Class Expectations

Essential checklist for class:

  1. Notebook and writing-tool (expected for everyclass)

  2. Highlighter or colored pen

  3. A two-pocket folder for handouts (necessary)

  4. Diccionario de ingles y espanol (if possible)

A dictionary is strongly recommended because it will increase your success in learning Spanish.

Learning a second language is an enormous commitment because you must continuously practice, memorize and practice some more. Each concept is accumulative. Therefore, attendance is necessary. New grammar is always introduced.

Course: The text we will continue to use is called Realidades II contains 9 Units. There is a workbook that goes along with the text to reinforce comprehension of the material presented in the text. Each lesson takes about 2 weeks to complete.

Regla de Rue es Respetar

Rue’s Rule – Respect

Basic Rules (these are in addition to those rules found in your student handbook on page 15)

  • Respect me by giving me the chance to teach

  • Respect yourselves by trying hard.

  • Respect each other by not doing things that prevent your classmate from succeeding.

  • Keep the room clean

  • Come prepared to actively enjoy learning.

If any of the following are broken you will be given 2 verbal warnings and if the behavior does not stop then you will be sent to the principal’s office. If that does not resolve the issue we will have a parent/teacher/student/principal meeting.

Suggestions:

Spend 20 minutes each night reviewing vocabulary words. This can be done in creative ways! However, repetition is vital for memorization.

¨Make flash cards

¨Make vocab nametags for items around the house

¨Teach family members and friends new vocab

¨Make audio recordings

¨Write out the vocab words 10 times each

¨Play word games like bingo, hangman, wheel-of-fortune, ect.
