Congratulations! You are taking the first steps towards requesting the same accommodations currently used in school for future PSAT, SAT, and AP exams. Please review the following requirements before proceeding (scroll down to bottom for next steps):
REQUIREMENTS:
1. The following documentation needs to be completed and returned to your counselor before any request can be submitted. Submission of this form officially starts the request process.
2. You are requesting accommodations before the written deadline:
The signed consent form must be submitted to your counselor at least ten business days before the official Collegeboard request deadline in order to guarantee its timely completion. The most up to date information regarding submission deadlines can be found here:
https://www.collegeboard.org/students-with-disabilities/calendar
Please note that Collegeboard Accommodations requests can be completed as soon as you enter high school with an approved school-based accommodations. This is unlike the ACT, where you must wait until you register for a specific exam date. The counseling department sends out consent forms to students with school-based accommodations in May of the 9th grade year, which are processed over the summer in time for the PSAT the following October. Your counselor cannot request accommodations without the consent form completed.
NEXT STEPS:
Once your consent form is received, your counselor will use the information in your IEP/504 to complete the request. This means that all accommodations will match the test accommodations portion of the official plan. If you feel that an accommodation is missing or incorrect, please connect with your counselor prior to submitting the consent form.
In the event that Collegeboard asks for additional information (historically this has been to substantiate rare conditions and/or newly implemented plans), the most up to date testing completed by the Irvington School District will be submitted. Families are responsible for supplying any additional information, including outside testing and recommendations, in the case that more documentation is requested.
PLEASE NOTE: In most situations, when school accommodations have been effectively used for lengthy amounts of time, Collegeboard will approve accommodation requests received from counselors without the need of additional information. However, for new accommodations or less commonly requested accommodations, they may require that we submit documentation. The approval process can take up to seven weeks. You will receive communication directly from Collegeboard with their response as well as information from us regarding next steps.
