Goal
The main goal of this Flagship (4) set of Clusters of Activities (5) is to establish a Global Rice Array to provide rice breeders worldwide with genomics (genotypes), phenomics, and environmental information, as well as targeted ideotypes, in order to generate adapted varieties at a faster rate.
Objectives
Establish a Global Rice Array of well characterized field laboratories and trial sites and equipped to carry out multi-environment trials
Provide breeders information on yield potential and the effects of biotic/abiotic factors on yield variability by environment and varietal type
Generate phenomics data resources for multiple environments and climatic conditions and genomics data on the tested panels
Accelerate gene and trait discovery in order to help optimize the use of genetic diversity under different climatic scenarios
Deploy technologies adapted to specific environments based on knowledge of specific features of future rice production environments
